50’00″ – SHORT STORIES (2009)

2009

50’00’’ – Short Stories was presented for the first time in the Theatre of Neos Kosmos, in May ’09, where it received the first prize award of the Devised Theatre Festival.

An arbitrary amount of time (50’00’’) has been set as the duration of the theatrical meeting of a specific number of people in a specific space. A stopwatch is being set to ring after 50 minutes from the moment that the performers will appear on stage. The stopwatch will stay there, on stage, counting the time of the event aiming to interrupt the performance exactly on the 50th minute, at a random, unknown point. Within this time, four people endlessly narrate stories of all kind in an event whose construction they do not know and becomes available to them in two lists when entering the stage. In this way, they construct a show while witnessing its construction themselves by practicing the main theatrical function: narrating stories.
