A SINGLE VOICE – 3000 ENGLISH WORDS IN THE HANDS OF A TJ (2009)

A Single Voice loses her ability to write. Being it impossible for her to create this work, she asks friends and strangers to help by giving her their words written in the first person singular (I). She then becomes a tj (text-jockey). Like an impossible kind of dj, she uses these texts as songs and she mixes words, lines, paragraphs, looking for her voice; she copies, you read, she reads, you read, she speaks, you listen, she pauses, you pause, she speaks and copies, you listen and read, she copies and speaks, you read and listen. A 20-minute text-remix of all kind of words. Possessing none of her words the voice now wins her voice back. But is this her voice? Where does she start and where do the words of the others begin? Is the single voice the voice of us all? The words of you and you and you?
